Introduction to Robotics (Grades 8–12)

The Robotics class offers an engaging, hands-on introduction to electronics and programming using a versatile Arduino kit (valued at approximately $60). Packed with a diverse array of sensors, motors, and electronic components, students will explore foundational skills while progressing toward increasingly complex, interactive systems.

Course Overview:

  • Electronics Basics:
    Understand circuits, sensor integration, and how code drives physical output.
  • Hands-On Projects:
    Apply learning immediately with guided projects that gradually increase in complexity.
  • Programming Skills:
    Learn simple code writing to control outputs and create feedback systems.
  • Creative Engineering:
    Encourage problem-solving and experimentation to foster innovation and confidence.
  • Progressive Skill Building:
    Each week builds on previous lessons, cultivating both technical knowledge and a maker mindset.

Since West Salem has NEVER CHARGED for the use of their facility (i.e. no rent, utilities, water, internet, or paper product fees; ONLY a nominal cleaning fee), there will be no facility or maintenance fees required. In order to respect your time and resources, we plan to offer regular lunches for a small charge with all proceeds going to West Salem Baptist Church as our love offering to them for such a generous gift.
