Roanoke Salem Blacksburg Vinton Homeschool Education

What is Roanoke-Salem Homeschool Academy?

At Roanoke-Salem Homeschool Academy, we offer a wide range of classes for students from Pre-K through 12th grade, both academic and non-academic. Our school day is divided into six periods, and students can choose to attend as many or as few of these periods as they wish.

Classes are held on Mondays, and assignments are given during class time with the expectation that they will be completed at home. For transcript purposes, middle and high school courses are given final grades. Middle and high school students may be dropped off, and parents are not required to teach.

Our academy currently serves students with a selection of different classes. Our goal is to provide an additional option for academic instruction in a classroom setting, while still recognizing that the primary responsibility for a student's education lies with the parent.

Parents should ensure that their student's courses meet their needs and should inform the district in which they live, but should not use Roanoke-Salem Homeschool Academy as their primary curriculum.

Why we do what we do!

Parent directed education has become a growing movement in the US. Virginia has seen a surge in families seeking education opportunities for their children. Safety and family values seem to be among the top reasons cited for choosing homeschool. Many parents state they wish to establish their students in faith.

At The Roanoke-Salem Homeschool Academy, we seek to help families educate their children to the Glory of God. Education exists to help people learn of and know God through Christ.

This is our purpose.

Why do we learn to read?
So we can read the word of God and know Him.

Why do we learn math?
So that we might count and see the blessings God has given.

Why do we learn history?
So we can see God working throughout time in His creation and not forget the good things he has done.

Why do we learn science?
Because God has hidden His wonder in plain sight that we can know and seek Him.

"And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."
