Biology with Labs (8th-10th) 2 Hour Course

Biology introduces students to the study of life, from the chemistry of living things to cells, genetics, ecosystems, plants, animals, and microorganisms. Using Apologia's Exploring Creation with Biology, 3rd Edition, students will build a strong foundation in biology while gaining a deeper appreciation for God's creativity and design in the living world. This course also helps students develop important scientific skills such as observation, data collection, graphing, lab reporting, and applying the scientific method.

Course Overview:

  • The Science and Chemistry of Life:
    Explore the foundations of biology, including scientific methods, biological chemistry, and the structures and processes that support life.
  • Cells, DNA, and Genetics:
    Study cell structure and function, cellular energy, DNA, heredity, genetics, and how living organisms grow, reproduce, and pass on traits.
  • Ecology and Living Systems:
    Learn how organisms interact with one another and their environments through ecosystems, food webs, populations, and ecological relationships.
  • Diversity of Life:
    Examine prokaryotes, viruses, protists, fungi, plants, and various types of animals while learning how living things are classified and studied.
  • Labs and Scientific Skills:
    Practice using the scientific method, recording data, writing lab reports, and reading, creating, and interpreting graphs used in science and standardized testing.
